 When John Ezzard and Bill Stack opened Tiger Mountain Vineyards & Winery, they began with a deep respect for the land and the cultivation of fine fruit, a Georgia Tradition. John began planting grapes in the 1995 on the five generation old farm at Tiger Mountain where he was born. He and his wife, Martha, took their cues from a successful Virginia vineyard, selecting varieties of grapes suited to the climate of the southern Blue Ridge Mountains: French vinifera grapes, the American Norton, and couple of fine Portuguese grapes. |

Meanwhile Bill and his wife, Leckie, were culitivating an apple orchard and studying wine making, starting with apple wines. The Stacks and Ezzards pooled their talents to open Tiger Mountian Vineyards Winery in 1999. Now they grow grapes in Tiger, where the soil, the 2,000 foot altitude and sunny, well-drained slopes are the perfect terroir.
The hand-crafted wines include Rabun Red, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Tannat, Touriga National, Norton and Viognier. The red wines, barrel aged 12-24 months, recently won 14 awards in international competitions, including a gold medal from the American Wine Society for the 1999 Cabernet Franc.
